Human Rights Protection Policy on Tibetans
Northern Justice Watch is committed to protecting human rights globally, with a strong emphasis on accountability for crimes against humanity. We are aware of the ongoing human rights concerns affecting Tibetans, an Indigenous ethnic and religious group primarily residing in the Tibet Autonomous Region under the governance of the People’s Republic of China. We focus our attention and resources on fostering justice and accountability for Tibetan individuals and communities, including those in diaspora, seeking support from our organization. To achieve this, we will, among other things:
- Monitor, document, and publicly report on human rights concerns affecting Tibetans by relying on evidence-based findings and remaining impartial in our documentation;
- Provide advocacy and support tailored to Tibetan individuals and communities seeking assistance from our organization, while promoting equal treatment of all religious and ethnic groups with dignity and respect;
- Form strategic partnerships with organizations and government bodies at all levels to support Tibetan individuals and communities;
- Engage in interventions that facilitate investigations, accountability mechanisms, and other redress-seeking processes.
We, as Northern Justice Watch, are deeply concerned about the human rights situation of Tibetans. Since the incorporation of Tibet into the People’s Republic of China in 1950 and the subsequent 1959 Tibetan uprising, reports from international organizations and researchers have highlighted ongoing restrictions on freedom of expression, religious practice, and cultural preservation. Tibetan Buddhism, a central aspect of Tibetan identity, remains subject to strict state regulation, and expressions of devotion to the Dalai Lama are prohibited.
The Northern Justice Watch is dedicated to upholding the principles of equality, dignity, and respect for all individuals, regardless of their religion or beliefs. We firmly believe that freedom of religion, cultural expression, and identity are fundamental rights that enrich society and must not be suppressed.
Given the continued concerns regarding surveillance, detention, and limitations on cultural and religious freedoms in Tibet, we call upon government bodies at all levels to support transparent investigations and accountability measures. It is our unwavering belief that every individual possesses inherent dignity and worth, and we remain committed to advocating for justice and accountability for Tibetans.
